Walled Garden Workshops
We are in our third year of growing in our four-acre walled garden, 10 minutes away from the Taybank at the beautiful Murthly Castle Estate. Our growers are committed to raising chemical-free crops in an environmentally sensitive way, boosting the soil with ecologically responsible techniques and supporting biodiversity. Our produce list runs to over 60 varieties of vegetable, fruit, flowers and salad, including Chinese artichoke, lemon cucumber, salsify, kohlrabi and Romanesco cauliflower. We also keep hens and bees. Herbs including fennel, dill, lemon balm and thyme are picked fresh for every service from the herb garden behind our restaurant. We forage for wild garlic and sweet cicely on the banks of the River Tay in spring, and chanterelles and ceps on the Murthly estate in autumn.
We’re lucky to have a community of growers nearby, including Little Trochy Farm, Taybank Growers Coo-operative and The Field.
2025 Growing Workshops
Our workshops have now finished for the year. Please keep an eye out on our Instagram and Newsletter for dates and tickets.
Join our head grower Donald in an immersive one-day workshop on how to work with nature to grow abundant harvests of nutrient-dense food from a small area. Whether you are totally new to growing food or have some seasons of experience, there will be lots to learn and bespoke advice will be given according to your circumstances and growing needs.
A delicious lunch of both fresh and preserved ingredients from the garden is included, as are refreshments throughout the day. We’ll also send you off with a comprehensive growing handbook and a jar of the highest quality compost we have made so you can bring the best microbial community into your garden.
